This document outlines how a 1GB mobile data plan can support core features of the Magic Eagle® trail camera. It is intended to help users understand estimated data consumption and select a plan appropriate to their usage needs.
- Data Conversion Reference
To ensure accurate understanding of data usage, the following unit conversions apply:
- 1GB = 1024MB
- 1MB = 1024KB
- 1KB = 8kb
- 1024kbps ≈ 0.125MB/s
- Estimated Feature Support with 1GB of Data
Feature | Approximate Data per Use | Estimated Usage per 1GB |
Image preview (thumbnail) | 50 KB | ~20,000 images |
High-resolution image download | 500 KB | ~2,000 images |
Video download (15 seconds) | 6 MB | ~170 clips |
Video download (30 seconds) | 12 MB | ~85 clips |

Live View – FHD (1024 kbps) | ~1 MB/s | ~2 hours |
Note: Values are estimates based on standard encoding and typical usage scenarios. Actual data consumption may vary depending on camera settings, network conditions, and activity frequency.
- Usage Recommendations
- Use thumbnail previews for browsing events to minimize unnecessary data usage.
- Download high-resolution images or videos only when detailed review is needed.
- Combine local SD card recording with cloud access for reliable, data-efficient operation.
- You can check your remaining data balance and plan status in the app under the “Service” tab.
- Suggested Use Cases for a 1GB Plan
Scenario | Recommended Practice |
General daily monitoring | Use thumbnails for fast event viewing |
Occasional video review | Download short 15–30 second clips as needed |
Remote property or wildlife watch | Use SD resolution in Live View for efficiency |
Backup + cloud storage | Enable AI filtering and save to SD card |
- Important Notes
- When your 1GB plan is exhausted, cloud uploads, remote Live View, and app notifications will be temporarily disabled.
- It is recommended to renew or upgrade your data plan before it runs out to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Camera models may differ in encoding and compression methods. Always refer to actual usage records to fine-tune your data expectations.
